Donna Beitzel - Head Coach
Coach Donna is excited to lead the U12 team this season. She began her coaching journey with DYS in 2015 when her daughter joined the program, and since then has coached across multiple levels—including the House League, the HEAT team, and, most recently, as the Head Coach of the U14 Club team. She also coached with Loudoun Youth Volleyball from 2016 to 2021. Coach Donna is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Currently in her 4th year as the Head Coach of the Freshman team at Freedom High School, Donna focuses on building strong fundamentals, fostering teamwork, and cultivating a love for the game. She is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, improve their skills, and enjoy their volleyball journey—whether they continue into club, high school, or even college play.
This year is especially exciting as DYS launches its first U12 team in many years, and Donna's steady leadership and proven track record make her the perfect fit to guide the program’s youngest athletes.
Macy Farester - Assistant Coach
Macy is a senior at John Champe High School, where she is the starting Outside Hitter and Captain of the Varsity team. She wrapped up her club playing career with DYS last season as a member of the U17 team and now transitions from player to coach.
This season will be Macy’s first at the club level in a coaching role, though she already has experience leading teams. For the past two years, she has served as a Head Coach in the DYS recreation league, where her calm demeanor and ability to teach each player have continually impressed her fellow coaches.
We are excited to welcome Macy back this year in a new role as the U12 Assistant Coach and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our athletes.

Kristie Shonholz - Head Coach
Coach Kristie will serve as the Head Coach for the U13 team this season, marking her 1st year coaching Club Volleyball with DYS. While new to the club level, Kristie brings many years of experience in the DYS Recreation League, where she has often coached multiple teams in a single season. Her teams are consistently competitive, frequently finishing at or near the top of the standings. She also remains an active Volleyball player herself, competing in a local women’s league.
In addition to Volleyball, Kristie has coached DYS Basketball for several years and, this past year, led the 4th-grade DYS Select team.
Kristie’s coaching philosophy centers on teamwork, positivity, and harmony. She believes that great teammates build strong teams, and she works to create an environment where athletes support one another and grow together.
Maddie Larson - Assistant Coach
Coach Maddie will serve as the Assistant Coach for the U13 Thunder team this season, marking her 1st year coaching Club Volleyball with DYS. She has many years of experience in the DYS Recreation League, often working alongside Coach Kristie to lead teams to outstanding results.
Maddie also coaches the Freshman Volleyball team at Park View High School and brings a strong passion for the game along with a commitment to helping young athletes grow in both skill and confidence.
She is excited to take on this new role at the club level and looks forward to helping guide the U13 team this season.
Cris Campbell - Head Coach
Coach Cris serves as the President of DYS Sports and will lead the U14 team this season. This marks his 11th year coaching Club Volleyball with DYS, in addition to many years coaching in the rec program and at the high school level. He is currently the Varsity Assistant Coach at Freedom High School and has also coached at Independence and Park View. Cris previously served as the DYS Volleyball Commissioner before being elected President of all DYS Sports.
Cris was first introduced to volleyball by his oldest daughter when she was in fifth grade. Although he had never played the sport competitively, he quickly fell in love with it and has been coaching ever since. Prior to volleyball, he was an accomplished rugby coach at the club, college (GMU), and high school levels, highlighted by winning the 2013 Virginia State High School Rugby Championship.
Cris values hard work, effort, and a growth mindset, and he challenges his players to bring those qualities every day. He pushes his teams to work hard, knowing that effort and resilience build confidence and lasting success. He is excited to bring that approach to the U14s this season.
Haley Adams - Assistant Coach
Coach Haley will serve as the Assistant Coach for the U14 team this season, marking her 1st year coaching Club Volleyball with DYS. She grew up in the DYS rec and club programs before excelling as a high school player and continuing her playing career at the Division I level with William & Mary.
Haley also serves as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Freedom High School, where she shares her playing experience and passion for the game. She is excited to begin her coaching journey with DYS, helping young athletes grow in skill, confidence, and love for volleyball.
Abby Brewer - Head Coach
Coach Abby will lead the U15 team this season, marking her 4th year coaching with DYS Volleyball. Last year, she served as the Head Coach of our U16 team and is excited to work with a new group of athletes.
A high-level player herself, Abby competed at both the high school and club levels. She brings that same competitive spirit into her coaching, pairing personal achievement with a deep commitment to player development. Abby previously served as the Varsity Coach at PVI High School and now leads their JV team, in addition to teaching 5th grade at Cedar Lane Elementary School.
Passionate about building confidence and growth, Abby creates a team environment rooted in effort, resilience, and teamwork. She looks forward to another strong season with DYS and can’t wait to get started with the U15s.
Alyssa Jessup - Assistant Coach
Coach Alyssa will serve as an Assistant Coach for the U15 team this season, marking her 2nd year coaching with DYS Club Volleyball. Last year, she worked alongside Coach Abby with the U16s and also helped coach the Varsity team at PVI.
Alyssa played both Volleyball and Basketball at the high school and club levels and now teaches third grade at Hovatter Elementary. She brings energy, perspective, and a strong passion for working with young athletes.
She is excited to return to DYS and looks forward to coaching the U15s this season with Abby and Brooke.

Adam Olguin - Head Coach
Coach Adam returns for his 3rd season coaching Club Volleyball with DYS and will once again lead the U16 Thunder team. Last year, he guided the U16s to multiple tournament wins, bringing strong energy and leadership to the program.
Adam has been a committed coach in the DYS community for many years. Before joining the Club Volleyball ranks, he led the DYS HEAT team for two seasons. He currently serves as the Head JV Coach at Freedom High School and has prior experience coaching at the freshman level. Over the past 15 years, Adam has coached baseball, basketball, and football, always emphasizing teamwork, character, and discipline.
Adam believes a team is only as strong as its weakest link. He values effort, unity, and sportsmanship—winning with humility and losing with grace—and looks forward to building another cohesive, competitive team this season.

Jimmy Kerwin - Head Coach/DYS VB Commissioner
Coach Jimmy returns for his 10th season coaching Club Volleyball with DYS and will be leading the U17 team this year. Over the past decade, he has coached every age group from U13 through U18.
As the DYS Volleyball Commissioner, Jimmy oversees everything related to the Volleyball program—including the Club program, Recreation league, and a variety of clinics and camps—providing opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels.
Coach Jimmy and Assistant Coach Charity guided their U17 and U18 teams to back-to-back titles at the Capitol Hill Classic in 2022 and 2023—two of his proudest coaching moments.
Outside of DYS, Coach Jimmy serves as the Varsity Head Coach and Program Director at Freedom High School in South Riding. He holds certifications in Impact and SafeSport through USA Volleyball and has completed both Level 1 and Level 2 training with The Art of Coaching Volleyball.

Charity Kerwin - Assistant Coach
Coach Charity returns for her 10th year in the DYS Club Volleyball program and will serve as the U17 Assistant Coach this season. She has coached every age group from U13 through U18, bringing a wealth of experience and a steady, positive presence to the program.
Before coaching at the club level, Charity spent nine years in the DYS House League, including time as Head Coach of the Rec League All-Star Team.
Charity is IMPACT and SafeSport certified. She is known for her ability to connect with players, help them manage the emotional side of competition, and build lasting confidence. Her goal is to inspire athletes to grow into the best versions of themselves—both on and off the court—by emphasizing resilience, teamwork, and self-belief.
